Yes, folks, yet another change here at Cup-O'-Joe. The last blog design was beautiful, but I scrapped it and went for the Blogger Minima template for four reasons:1. Readability. I loved the colors, but readability was an issue. People read dark letters on a light background faster and easier than vice versa.
2. Loading time. The last template loaded quickly...usually. Sometimes my browser would get hung on an item, though (usually the "recent comments section).
3. Third party software. The last template was a bunch of complicated code downloaded from a stranger's site. This creeped me out after while...then I read several articles about malicious software embedded in downoadable blogger templates and the paranoia set in. Though I'm sure (mostly) that the template I used was safe, I still had those nagging doubts in the back of my mind. Remeber the old saying? "When in doubt, throw it out."
4. Software updates. When Blogger releases updates, they may not work with hacked Wordpress templates or other custom templates, whereas using a customized Blogger template is a sure way to make sure your blogspot is running with the latest shoes from those fine fellows at Google.
4. Creativity. Mine, that is. I wanted to make a blogger template that was my very own - my own images, my own layout. So I started with Blogger's Minima template and I'm building up from here. Already, I've put in a third column on the left. Some joe-riginal graphics will be uploaded as soon as I get Photoshop reloaded. I'll be blogging and customizing at the same time - sort of like the guy who lives in his house while he remodels it.
So, that's what's happening. What would you like to see in a blogger template?

Joe, you change templates like Ma moves furniture...
I can install blogging software on my webserver and you can tweak/edit to your hearts content. Sans googles limitations. Let me know.
Brad, you're right. I see lots of templates I like...but there's always sumpin' about 'em that I want to change.
I'll take you up on that offer. I'll call when you're back in town.
Excuse me...I sitting right here! And now that I am an old lady with a busted up back I don't get to move furniture anymore. So there, Mr. Smarty Pants Brad!
By the way Joe, I like this style best, it is much easier to read and not too busy as to be confusing.
Thanks, Ma. I'm am afraid it will be getting "busier", though.
I guess "busy" maybe was not such a good word for me to use... busy is good, and I thought your old blog was great and not too busy either. Some of my friends blogs are like "Cracker Barrels" to me...there is so much stuff to look at I get lost, but yours was not like that. But is there a place on your blog to "follow" your posts? I guess I have not found it yet, maybe you can guide me?
Ma, that wasn't a negative comment merely an observation from my childhood. I'm sure Joe and Brian both would agree that chairs and couches seemed restless too. :)
Brad changes google avatars as often as I change templates and Ma changes furniture!
;-)
It's all good. I say whatever makes us happy.
I enjoyed looking over your blog. I found your profile on another blog I follow and I added myself to follow you. You are more than welcome to visit my blog and become a follower if you want to. If I have posted this on your blog before please forgive me. Sometimes it ain't easy being an Old Geezer.
God Bless You, Ron
